WTA Files Comments on USAC Efficiency
Today, WTA responded to the FCC’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking input on strengthening its management and administration of the USF and its oversight of USAC. In its comments, WTA agreed with the FCC that the public interest could benefit from periodically re-examining USAC’s activities, structure and policies to see whether there is room for improvement or increased efficiencies. WTA’s primary concern is with USAC audits, which though necessary, can be overly burdensome, time-consuming and confusing. WTA’s comments contain several suggestions to improve the process while keeping robust oversight in place such as exempting companies that have just undergone audits from random audits in following years and ensuring auditors have appropriate training.
