WTA Files Comments in FCC National Security Proceeding

On June 1, WTA filed comments in the FCC’s national security proceeding (WC Docket 18-89). WTA noted that a large majority of its wireline members would not be impacted by a ban of the suggested companies in the NPRM. However, some WTA members who also offer mobile wireless service would be impacted. As such, WTA outlined the limited extent to which its members are reliant on products from the suggested companies and advised the Commission that any future policy must come with certainty that WTA’s members can rely on when constructing networks. Specifically, WTA asserted that any ban must be truly prospective and it should allow a rural provider to continue using its network through its lifespan.
