Rural Associations Meet With FCC Staff on April FNPRM

On July 8, representatives from NECA, WTA, NTCA and USTelecom, along with representatives from several telcos and their consultants met with staff from the Wireline Competition Bureau to discuss “adoption as soon as possible of a thoughtful and carefully constructed transition away from legacy support mechanisms to a new mechanism focused on supporting broadband-capable networks.”

In addition, the participants discussed the methodology for future rate studies, how to determine competitors in ILEC territories and the “allocation of costs and revenues under varying proposals and principles set forth in the Further Notice.”
