WTA Meets with FCC Chairman’s Office to Discuss National Security NPRM

On May 15, 2018,  WTA met with Nirali Patel, Special Counsel to Chairman Ajit Pai, to discuss the recently released Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in the above referenced proceeding. In a general, high-level discussion, WTA noted the initial concerns of a few of their members who may be impacted by a potential ban of certain vendors. WTA stressed that any future decision would need to come with certainty that rural providers can rely on when deploying broadband. WTA stated that it looks forward to engaging in the proceeding and filing comments by the June 1, 2018 deadline.
