WTA Files Comments in Support of ATA’s Lifeline Petition
On December 12th, WTA filed comments in support of the Alaska Telephone Association’s Petition requesting waivers of the Lifeline program’s minimum service standard rules. In its filing, WTA noted the unique issues that Alaskan carriers face, which the Commission considered when creating the Alaska Plan. Specifically, WTA supports ATA’s request for a waiver of the 4/1 mbps fallback speed rule as well as a waiver of the rule that requires a Lifeline customer to subscribe to the highest performing offering. Waivers of both rules will ensure that Alaskan Lifeline customers will be able to use their credit to access affordable service.
