WTA Applauds Introduction of Legislation to Extend ACP Funding
WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 10, 2024) – WTA – Advocates for Rural Broadband is pleased to see the introduction of bipartisan legislation in both the Senate and the House of Representatives to fund the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) through the end of 2024. The following statement can be attributed to Derrick Owens, WTA’s Senior Vice President of Government & Industry Affairs:
“ACP is an important program that has helped nearly 23 million Americans get access to and stay connected to the Internet. Ensuring every American can afford broadband is vital for communication, business, education, health care, and more. We applaud Senators Welch (D-VT), Vance (R-OH), Rosen (D-NV), and Cramer (R-ND) and Representatives Clarke (D-NY) and Fitzpatrick (R-PA) for introducing this legislation. Congress must act now so that this program does not run out of funding and people start losing access to affordable Internet service. WTA looks forward to working with policymakers to put the program on a stable footing long-term.”
