WTA Supports Partial Stay of Broadband Privacy Order
This week, WTA met with the Wireline Competition Bureau at the FCC regarding industry’s request for a partial stay of the Broadband Privacy Order. WTA emphasized that time is of the essence in granting the stay with a March 2 implementation deadline for new data security measures adopted in the Order. WTA explained that in light of numerous petitions for reconsideration and the possibility for Congress to use the Congressional Review Act to eliminate the Order’s requirements carriers — particularly small carriers — should not be required to shoulder the burden of interim policies that will likely see significant change before the Order is fully implemented.
