Rural Associations File Reply Comments on Standalone Broadband/CACM Model

Today, NECA, WTA, NTCA and ERTA filed comments in response to comments filed on the FCC’s Public Notice seeking input on RLECs receiving support for standalone broadband and allowing RLECs to opt to participate in the Connect America Fund Model (CACM).  The associations write that “the record in this proceeding demonstrates nearly unanimous support for permitting RLECs to receive support for standalone (i.e., data-only) broadband lines”…and that “commenters agree that a voluntary path for smaller carriers to receive USF support via the CACM could be useful in promoting rural broadband investment.”
