WTA Comments on Implementation of Affordable Connectivity Program
Today, WTA filed comments in response to the FCC’s Public Notice seeking input on implementing the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). WTA recommends the FCC, to the extent allowable under the statute, structure the ACP so that its mechanisms, regulations, and compliance procedures correspond as closely as possible to the current features of the Emergency Broadband Benefits and Lifeline programs with which existing providers and their customers are familiar.
Specifically, WTA requests the FCC allow all EBB participants to automatically participate in ACP, unless they opt out rather than requiring them to file new election notices. This same automatic renewable with opt-out mechanism should also apply to existing EBB customers. WTA also commented on a number of other specific ACP changes.
