Rebuild Rural Coalition Sends Letter on Infrastructure to President Biden

On January 28, WTA along with many other organizations, sent a letter to President Biden asking him to prioritize rural infrastructure, including broadband.

The letter says “The scope of the investment needed is staggering. Clearly, the federal government must continue to play an important role in providing funding and those federal investments should
increase. However, as your plan also suggests, federal resources alone cannot fill the void. Creative solutions that pair federal investment with state/local government investment and private sources of capital hold promise for raising a portion of the funds necessary to do the job for some of these infrastructure priorities. Further, we urge you to ensure rural people have a voice in the infrastructure priorities and have an opportunity to own, control and benefit from the new investments through cooperatives or other mechanisms that promote local forms of ownership.”
